Love Thursday: It grows

I am not a gardener, though I most assuredly will be someday. It’s encoded in my DNA as surely as the blue of my eyes or my ability to find four-leaf clovers. Every spring, as the flowers come in I see the appeal of planting bulbs, the joy of tiny leaves bursting through the ground, and suddenly one day a flower, perfect. I can see how it is satisfying to nurture the blank earth into something beautiful because I see love in the same way.

To me love is not a feeling, it is a verb, a series of actions, a choice every day. It is starting with something that is rough and raw and growing into something singular and divine. It takes effort to be sure, but the end result is the same as the very best garden – overwhelming beauty that you shaped with your own hands, that you coaxed out of nothing.

Happy Love Thursday!
