Nesting

I am in full nesting mode…after our tiny apartment in DC, our space here feels downright gluttonous. Pulling our apartment together has become my obsession and I want things in our home to make me (and you!) happy, to be cozy but whimsical. I’ve been thrifting and altering, and I spent an hour this weekend gluing gorgeous patterned paper to clothespins. Next, I plan to teach myself to reupholster by redoing our dining room chairs (that should end well!)

On Sunday we made our first trip to the Alameda flea market, which everyone has been saying is one of the best in the country. Well, indeed, it’s certainly one of the best I’ve ever been to. There was so much amazing junk! We made it home within our self-imposed budget, lugging one amazing old Polaroid camera, a heavy black Remington typewriter, a duct-taped piece of vintage yellow luggage, a pair of awesome shoes for Steve and three metal letters that now spell YUM over my oven. Tomorrow Steve will pick up a old, beat-up kitchen hutch for me to paint and wallpaper. Can’t wait!
