House Tour Part II: In which I paint a hutch

I found this hutch on craigslist. Except when I found it, it looked like this (well to be fair, I added the dishes – and the clutter):

Great bones, but an old grubby white paint job, which is why we got it crazy cheap. I probably could’ve left it as-was except that I have rental-white walls and the whole effect was rather meh, and also I can never just leave well enough alone, can I? And so I bought paint matched to the light turquoise in this pillow fabric and went to work.  I finished it by gluing some paper I’d fallen in love with to the back of the shelves and Voila!
