House Tour Part V: In which I make a print wall

The walls around our dining nook have been blank since we moved in, which has driven me completely crazy, but was necessary as it just took me that long to collect the variety of prints (and frames!) that I wanted to hang. The one with the phonograph stumped me for the longest time, until I found a very beat up pegboard at my beloved Depot for Creative Reuse. I “framed” the print on the pegboard, using tacks at each corner in a simple design. I love the texture it provides.

I found the frame for the typewriter at the Depot as well, and solved the fit problem by reverse-matting it (look! I just made up a word!). I glued decorative paper on cardboard and mounted the poster on top of it.The huge print is one of my favorite finds ever, and whenever I look at it, I cannot believe it wasn’t made JUST FOR ME.

The light, which I’ve taken to calling my “light sculpture,” was made by me using $20, a trip to Ikea and lots and lots of curse words as I tried not to fall off a 9 foot ladder.
