A Compromise

Can you believe I used to post every day? No? Well neither can I. I could bore you with where I’ve been (to the East Coast and back – twice! to Napa! to an Encaustic Painting workshop! to the beach!) But really, who cares? The point is that I haven’t been here. Last week on the bus to work I was thinking about when I had time to post every day. Granted, my life wasn’t as full – but still! How did I manage to compose a well through out entry so often?

I went back and looked and it turns out I didn’t! Back when I was posting regularly this blog was a photo blog – an outlet, a place to post whatever I was working on – no need to write or extrapolate. I think I’ve gotten stuck in a classic perfectionist’s rut – if I don’t have time to write something great, than why write at all? But at the same time, I’ve been taking photos and painting and dripping wax everywhere and I haven’t shared it a bit and that feels wrong too.

So, I’m going to compromise with myself. Over the next few weeks, I’m going to try to let go of the pressure to write and just try to post an image a day. I need to let my photos speak for me for awhile.
